Glasgow Save Our Homes can announce that after sit-ins, demonstrations and petitions, the Tenants of Glasgow have forced the Glasgow Housing Association Ltd (GHA Ltd) to halt their plans to get rid of the 24 Hour Fixed Sight Concierge Service. Instead the the 24 Hour Fixed Sight Concierge Service will be maintained with Concierges being on throughout the night. Two Concierges will on each fixed sight throughout the city.
This is a major victory for Tenant Power in Glasgow but we have to monitor how the concierge system as agreed with Concierge GMB Union representatives works from this point onwards to ensure that there is no backsliding by the GHA Ltd who still want to destroy communities.
Glasgow Housing Association Limited have stated in their New House building Strategy document ( annexe 3, page 33) which is on their website,
that they plan to demolish 11,423 Multi Storey Homes in Glasgow, when there is a total of 23,000 Multi Storey Flats in the city; thus they want to raise to the ground 50% of Multi Storey Flats in Glasgow. This would destroy whole communities.
